PROPER WELL WATER TREATMENT

Determining Proper Treatment

Proper well water treatment is based on what’s in your water. Challenges include water hardness, Iron, Hydrogen Sulfide (rotten egg odors), sediment, tannins, Arsenic, Nitrates, Acidic water (low pH), bacteria and other harmful microorganisms. Our well water filtration systems can handle any of your drinking water needs.

Testing for Bacteria

It is imperative that you determine if bacteria is present in your water supply.  One way to perform an easy preliminary check for its presence is to check for slime in the clean water tank of your toilets.  If bacteria is in your water supply, chemical treatment of your water supply will likely be required.

Well Water Filtration Systems

Safety Zone Water Systems is your local well water treatment equipment provider, offering several whole-house well water filtration systems that can handle all your water-treatment needs.

Our well water treatment systems can solve problems such as:

Here we provide our more popular systems for well water treatment.

Iron Trapper™ Systems

Iron Trapper™ Fitration System
safety zone water systems most popular system

Model: ISF-150-AD

Our Iron Trapper system is tailored for well water, removing Iron, Hydrogen Sulfide and Manganese without the use of chemicals, using our “air draw” valve.  This unique system provides air for greater oxidation and superior performance.

How it works!

The Iron Trapper™ utilizes oxygen, contained in your water and fresh ambient air to oxidize Iron, Hydrogen Sulfide and Manganese, so they drop out of solution to form particles. These particles are trapped by the filter media, and are periodically removed from the filter during the backwash cycle.

Iron Trapper™ systems do not need chemicals for oxidation. However, if your water contains bacteria, water treatment chemicals may be required for disinfection.

Sulfur Shield™ Systems

Model: SF-150-AD

A Sulfur Shield™ system is the preferred system to remove “rotten egg odors” that result from hydrogen sulfide, when there is low to no iron present.  This separate system is installed after a water softener, which will remove low levels of clear water iron (up to 2 ppm).  Larger tanks available for greater concentration of sulfur or higher water volume.

Model: AN-150-DH-A (automatic)

Model: AN-150-DH-NE (non-electric)

Acidic water can damage more than just your plumbing.  Low pH water can be hazardous to your health.  Even worse, acidic water can also cause contaminants, such as lead, to leach into your drinking water.

acidic neutralizers prevent copper pipe damage
Plumbing Damage Caused by Acidic Water

Safety Zone Water Systems provides an effective solution for acidic water.  Our acid neutralizer system uses calcite to neutralize the free carbon dioxide in water, rendering it less corrosive.  Calcite has “self-limiting” properties, and when properly applied, calcite corrects pH only enough to reach a non-corrosive equilibrium.  Upon contact with calcite, acidic water slowly dissolves the calcium carbonite, which raises the pH level and reduces the potential leaching of copper, lead and other metals found in typical plumbing systems.  Our acid neutralizer tanks feature a domed hole, so that the filter media can be easily replenished when necessary.   Tank colors are available in black and natural.

Well-Water Chemical Treatment System

Home Water Treatment Plant

This specialized well water filtration system provides chemical treatment when water disinfection is required.

The Home Water Treatment Plant is the ideal system for problem water to provide safe, great tasting water.  If you are dealing with bacteria, high organics, and iron and sulfur odors from hydrogen sulfide this system is for you! Standard equipment includes a chemical feed pump, 15 gallon solution tank, contact tank, carbon filter for chemical removal, post treatment and water softener.  Optional equipment includes Iron filter for high levels of iron, tannin softener and either Hydrogen Peroxide or Chlorine.

Standard components:

Optional items (as required):

Birm Media Filter Advantage

well water systems birm filtration media

For well water and other raw water supplies, Birm is an efficient and economical media for the reduction of dissolved iron and manganese.  Birm excels as an insoluble catalyst that enhances the reaction between dissolved oxygen and the iron compounds.  In ground waters the dissolved iron is usually not filterable. The physical characteristics of Birm provide an excellent filter media which is easily cleaned by backwashing to remove the precipitant.  Because Birm is not consumed in the iron removal operation it provides a tremendous economic advantage over many other iron-removal methods.

KDF Filter Media

kdf foam filter cubes for well water filters

Automatic backwashing systems utilize unique KDF impregnated foam cubes as a pre-treatment.  Kinetic Degradation Fluxion (KDF) is a copper-zinc formulation that uses a chemical process known as “redox” (a process of oxidation reduction) to remove chlorine, lead, mercury, iron, and hydrogen sulfide from a water supply.  KDF filtration also adds a degree of disinfection, reduces fouling of the carbon bed, and eliminates foul odors. These foam cubes float, allowing them to treat the water before reaching the filter’s catalytic carbon media, in order to extend the filter’s carbon life, as well as providing superior performance.  Non-electric well water filtration systems implement granular KDF material for pre-filtration.
